The Tokyo Imperial Palace is literally a minute away from the Tokyo Station. It is delimited by the Marunouchi business district on the East side. You can see the row of skyscrapers lining up at the boundary of the park. On South-West side of the palace are located government buildings such as the Japanese Diet.
The Tokyo Imperial palace is the official residence of the Japanese Emperor and his family. The capital and the palace were previously in Kyoto but in 1868, the Japanese emperor moved to his new residence in Tokyo. The palace itself can’t be visited since it is the house of the emperor. Security measures are really high around the area. Some buildings can be seen from outside of the gate but it is overall a very secretive place. To the North-East are located the Imperial Palace East Gardens where plant species from all regions of Japan can be found.
