Chureito Pagoda (忠霊塔 パゴダ)

The Chureito Pagoda is possibly one of the most photographed pagoda in Japan. Not because it has a particularily great notoriety but rather due to the fantastic view of mount Fuji in the background. If you visit the Chureito Pagoda, I hope you like climbing stairs, since close to 400 steps lead from the Arakura Sengen Shrine to the Pagoda! The reward is an awesome view of Mount Fuji. That is of course if weather is cooperative, which was not my case.

If you have great photos of the Chureito Pagoda, please share them in a comment below. I would like to see what I’ve missed!

Gaijin San

Since my better half is Japanese I often have the chance to travel to Japan. I grew fond over time of this magnificent country. I thought of sharing with you some places worth visiting in this little but growing travel guide to Japan. I try to show with images what I can't express with words. I hope you may find here some inspiration! For those who wonder, I chose the moniker Gaijin-San after being called like this by a waitress at a grilled eel restaurant. "Gaijin" means foreigner and "San" is a honorific suffix in Japanese.
