Cherry blossom forecast 2014

Picnics under the cherry blossoms (o-hanami) are an important part of Japanese culture. So important that the Japanese meteorological office produces a forecast of cherry-blossom season every year!

The 2014 cherry blossom season will start in less than one month. To better synchronize your visit of Japan to the famous blooming tree, please consult either of those two official websites:

Since my better half is Japanese I often have the chance to travel to Japan. I grew fond over time of this magnificent country. I thought of sharing with you some places worth visiting in this little but growing travel guide to Japan. I try to show with images what I can't express with words. I hope you may find here some inspiration! For those who wonder, I chose the moniker Gaijin-San after being called like this by a waitress at a grilled eel restaurant. "Gaijin" means foreigner and "San" is a honorific suffix in Japanese.

    1. Thanks for the comment! I always strive to improve my photography skills in Japan. I have countless photos of Cherry Blossom but those are the ones that convey the best how it feels walking in a park full of Cherry Blossoms!
